The first is an anonymous account (the preface is simply signed "J.R. Supercargo") of a shipborne journey through China from Macao to Canton, including visit to Hainan Island, observations on the opium trade etc. This work was also published as part of Sir Richard Phillips' New Voyages and Travels (London, 1820-23); a number of the titles in that work were issued separately, as here. The second is an octavo digest of the folio edition of the parliamentary papers on the lead-up to the First Opium War, and is quite rare in commerce. Lowendahl 940.
