Stated first edition, inscribed and signed with a quotation from the book on the title page "For Harold Merry/'We are involved in the struggle of Humanity against anti-Humanity.' -p. 427/John Hersey." Publisher's cloth, in original dust jacket. The jacket price clipped and lightly rubbed along extremities with a small abrasion to the spine and a vertical crease.

Hersey's harrowing tale of the Warsaw Ghetto, scarce inscribed as the present copy.
