Horror master Stephen King has inscribed this copy of Christine for Bill Thompson, his editor at Doubleday and an early promoter. Thompson had edited Carrie, Salem's Lot, The Shining, Night Shift, and The Stand. Christine is notable for having not been edited by Thompson in this period. The novel, which involves a possessed 1958 Plymouth Fury, was well received and John Carpenter's cult-classic film version was released late that same year. Such primary association copies of early King novels are scarce.
