Manuscript map in ink on joined sheets, with "Original March 11th AD 1815/Plot Surveyed by Bridges & Poppleton" in ink at lower right. The map is backed. 20 1/2 x 28 inches (52 x 72 cm). Split where joined and losses to these fold point extremities, stains and dust soiling, tears and other losses to corners and edges, later markings within the image; Together with another version of the same map, in color, but with losses. 21 x 28 inches (54 x 70 cm). Losses to right margin costing most of imprint and border.

A rare manuscript map showing the planned extension of Manhattan Island over the salt flats leading to the East River. The lands here are owned by Abijah Hammond and Colonel Henry Rutgers. The only street named is the planned Avenue D.
