[SOHO] Map of William Beekmans Lots on Bayards West Farm showing his distribution thereof among his Nephews and Nieces.
Manuscript map on paper in ink and colors, with "Copied from an Original Survey & Map by Charles Loss City Surveyor bearing date New York March 1st 1810 and which said map is now in the possession of Gerard Beekman, Esqr. New York March 3rd 1823 Geo. B. Smith City Surveyor" in ink below the title. The map backed and with a green silk border. 18 x 26 inches (45 x 66 cm). Dust soiling and staining, losses to silk border, later pencil markings within the image.

A graphically striking map of showing the heart of today's Soho neighborhood (Fanelli's Cafe sits at the corner of Mercer and Prince Streets). The map shows lands owned by William Beekman (1684-1770). Interestingly, original topography is drawn in over the Greene and Wooster blocks.
