London & New York: Lee Keedick & John Murray, 1913. First American edition. Two volumes. Translated from the Norwegian by A.G. Chater. Publisher's blue cloth gilt. 9 x 7 inches (23 x 18 cm); xxxv, [1], 392; x, 449 pp., illustrated with numerous photo plates, diagrams, maps (a few folding), facsimiles, etc. Some scratches and scuffs to spine, the hinges loose due to the heft of the text blocks, internally clean, booklabel of Thomas Francis Moran.

Amundsen's narrative of his expedition to the South Pole, made in competition with Scott (Amundsen reached the Pole in 34 days before Scott). As is common with this American edition, the diagram of the Fram is not present at the end of Appendix 1, although it is called for in list of illustrations. Spence 16.
