Lot Details

Lot 184
[MAP] BELLIN, JACQUES NICOLAS. Carte Reduite des Costes de la Louisiane et de la Floride.
Paris: S. Bellin, [circa 1764]. Engraved map with hand-coloring, second state with the seal of the Depot de Marine near the inset. 22 1/2 x 33 1/2 in (58.5 x 85 cm) to the neatline; framed. Toned with pale spotting, the coloring appears modern, not examined out of frame.

Bellin was chief cartographer to the French Navy and this is likely his most important map of gulf region for its size and presentation of Florida as a dense group of islands.
