Publisher's pictorial blue cloth, top edge gilt. 9 x 6 1/2 inches; volume 1: [4], xv-lxxx, 521 pp., volume 2: xiv, 625 pp., frontispieces in each volume and illustrations throughout after photographs, maps, folding map. The spines lightly faded and with a few spots, the joints loose but sound set overall.
