London: R and J. Dodsley, 1757. First edition. Two volumes. Early tan calf gilt. 8 x 5 inches (20 x 13 cm); [8], 312; 300, [20] pp., with two folding maps. The bindings worn with split joints, losses to tips and lettering labels, toned within but clean overall, contemporary shelf markers to pastedowns.

According to Howes, of works on this subject, this is the "best contemporary account. Actually written by William Burke, but usually ascribed to his more famous kinsman who gave substantial help." Howes B974; Sabin 9282.
