Amsterdam & Leipzig: Arkste'e & Merkus, 1749. First French edition. Contemporary calf, rebacked preserving spine strip. 10 x 8 inches (25 x 20 cm); with half title, [8], xvi, 333, [1] pp., with 33 (of 34, lacks plate 10) engraved maps and views (most folding). The spine refurbished as noted, the binding rubbed, the front endpaper repaired and the rear excised, the text toned but generally clean, short tear to one map at mount, short tear to margin of sea lion plate, splits and stains to large folding map, a tired copy sold with all faults.
