[ANTIGUA] Collection of approximately twenty documents concerning Antigua planter John Tomlinson, circa 1750s.
Group of papers held in a contemporary sheet with manuscript note reading "Papers belonging to John Tomlinson, Esq." holding about 20 manuscript items mostly written between 1750-60, being account ledger documents relating to Tomlinson's estate in Antigua, a 1757 letter from a Stapleton Dunbard regarding a shipment, a long letter dated 1754 to Tomlinson describing a planation and slaves, and a true copy of Tomlinson's will on three large sheets held with an original vellum protected tie, this the largest item in the lot opening to 17 x 13 inches (42 x 34 cm). Accompanied by some modern hand-written notes describing the document, a family tree, etc. Most fine, some with small repairs to tears or frayed edges.
An interesting mid-18th century archive of a planter in Antigua. This group sold as part of lot 1235, Sotheby and Co., February, 1968.
