Publisher's red cloth, gilt lettered, top edge gilt, in a custom clamshell case. 7 3/8 x 4 1/2 inches (19 x 12 cm); [6], 195, [1] pp., with [4] pp. ads. Spine lightly faded, a spot of wear to corners, spine ends softened, foxed. The first edition of Wharton's classic novella. While six thousand copies were apparently printed, only two thousand five hundred have the top edge gilt, including this copy. Garrison A 19.I.a.
