Edinburgh: James Gall, 1834. First edition. Nineteenth century black morocco spine and corners, gilt lettered, marbled paper boards, all edges sprinkled red. 8 1/2 x 5 1/8 inches (21.75 x 13.25 cm); xx, 9-388 pp., 3 embossed frontispiece leaves. Light wear to joints, edges and corners, contents with occasional pale spotting and light toning, armorial bookplate of Isaac Norris.

One of the earliest comprehensive studies in English of specialist printing for the blind, published soon after Gall had developed his triangular embossed alphabet. That same year he also printed an edition of The Gospel of St. John using his new alphabet. This copy contains two additional plates of music, not issued with the book.
