[VERNACULAR-ANIMAL CARTES DE VISITES] Various Photographers. A selection of carte de visite dog portraits,
circa 1860s-1880s. Albumen prints pasted onto cartes de visite (24), all featuring dog breeds, some with owners, mostly German and Viennese photographers include L. Angerer, Adèle, Rabending und Monckhoven, J. Birfelder, J.B. Rottmayer, Mahlknecht and others, and a number unsigned. Generally sound condition, a pleasing group.

Norma Stevens represented Richard Avedon for thirty years, and her husband Martin (d. 2016) was an art and creative director for Revlon and other agencies.
