W.T. Copeland Majolica 'Centennial' Vase
Retailed by J.M. Shaw & Co., New York, 1876
Modeled as three addorsed eagles perched on a circular base, the handles as crossed staffs supporting American flags, conjoined by applied shields, embossed with three inscriptions 1876 CENTENNIAL MEMORIAL, 1776 DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, and WASHINGTON FATHER OF OUR COUNTRY, black printed mark, circular uppercase mark and retailer's mark for J.M. Shaw & Co., New York, black painted B, possibly impressed F/76. Height 9 3/4 inches.
