Mintons Majolica Cobalt-Blue Ground Cockerel, Snail and Monkey Teapot and Cover
Shape no. 624, date cypher for 1877
Ovoid, each side molded with a shield medallion reserved on a dark-blue ground, the spout as a startled crowing cockerel, the handle as a climbing mischievous monkey and the green-ground reeded cover with yellow snail finial, the interior turquoise, impressed uppercase mark and a small cypher, shape no., two black painted 3s with flourish and 20 to cover, height 6 inches, length 9 inches; Together with Royal Doulton Porcelain Limited Edition Minton Archive Collection Cockerel and Monkey Cobalt-Blue Ground Teapot and Cover. Edition no. 630, 20th century, decorated in majolica style glazes, with printed Minton Archive Collection mark, length 9 inches.

Early Teapot: rim chips to the body at the mouth and associated hairlines, which extend downwards into the body; there is a small nick loss to the tip of the uppermost and central tip of the cock's comb; there is a chip loss to the front foot; the lid appears to be sprayed and consequently, likely has undergone clever proer professional restoration; examined under blacklight

Later Teapot: appears to be in generally good condition
