George Jones Majolica 'Full Nest' Game-Pie Dish, Liner and Cover
Circa 1873
Oval, flanked by oak branch handles with leafy acorn terminals, the cover with a nesting quail among grass, her yellow brood perching and nestling at her side, the tureen molded with a continuous pastoral view of a hare and two bunnies, pink interior fitted with a liner, impressed GJ monogram mark and spoke cypher raised registry diamond (27-F-A-7) for December 27, 1873, black painted shape no. 3371. Width overall 14 1/8 inches.

CONDITION REPORT UPDATE: Sunday, April 2

Overall very nice condition; chip to the finial chick's beak, some overpainting to the underside of the cover, near the painter's number five, making it difficult to discern what has been done; a restored rim chip to the liner, and another to the tureen flange; typical staining, crazing and wear to the liner; all three examined under blacklight
