Palissy Style Majolica Two-Handled Tortoiseshell-Ground Broth Bowl, Cover and Stand
Probably English, possibly Wedgwood or Minton, 19th century
In the Renaissance style, sponged in manganese on a mottled green ground, the stepped conical cover with ochre spire knop and spiral snake handles, the chalice form bowl with similar handles, on a conforming circular stand, ochre line rims, turquoise interior and underside, unmarked. Height 6 inches, width of bowl 9 1/2 inches, diameter of stand 8 3/4 inches.
