Publisher's green cloth, gilt lettered spine. 8 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches (22 x 13.75 cm); Volume I: [2], v, [1], 432pp., hand-colored engraved frontispiece, hand-colored and black and white engraved plates, in-text illustrations; Volume II: [2], v, [1]. 2, 479 pp., hand-colored and black and white engraved plates, in-text illustrations. Light wear to cloth mostly at extremities, loss to cloth at head of spine effecting lettering, contents with some spotting, hinges cracked in volume I, endpapers toned, tipped in letter from the editor and tipped in leaf of notes from an early owner in volume I, volume II with notes from an early owner on endpapers, bookplate of J A Busfield, sold-as-is.
