Later three-quarters brown morocco over cloth, the spine tooled and lettered in gilt with raised band. 10 3/4 x 8 1/2 inches (27.5 x 22 cm); xxxiv, 740 pp.; without half-title, errata, ads, or supplement volume; complete with 25 plates (three of which are color printed mezzotints), 6 maps (two folding, the large one at the rear mounted to linen). Binding sound but a trifle rubbed, within some toning and offsetting, generally an attractive copy.
