Gilded and Polychromed Wood Figure of a Monk Kamakura/early Muromachi Period
Kamakura/early Muromachi Period
Standing on a single lotus, the figure is constructed of two halves for the body, two halves for the separate head and separate hands. The robes are decorated in polychrome on the upper half and gilding on the lower half; glass eyes. Height 15 1/4 inches (38.7 cm).

Condition: two parts of the body opening slightly down the front and bacjk, beginning at the neck. Hands probably reopaired replacements. Nose broken. Majority of the gilding and color intact.
