. London: Geo[rge] Harlow, 1783. First edition. Modern black half morocco, cloth sides. 7 5/8 x 4 3/4 inches (9.5 x 11.5 cm); [2], 145, [1] pp. Slightly toned, generally a clean copy.
This is a rather rare account of the trial of Gordon for misconduct (specifically cowardice) during the Battle of Springfield, 1780. The court-martial (which Gordon had requested) was in June of 1780. He pleaded not guilty, and was indeed acquitted. This is a fascinating account for the minutiae of detail regarding the movements of his company during the battle, and for the insight into British military practice and discipline that it provides.
