[POSTERS] Les Maitres De LAffiche.
. Paris: Imprimerie Chaix, 1895. First edition. First volume (only) of five issued, in full red morocco gilt by Bayntun Rivière, top edge gilt. 15 1/2 x 11 3/4 inches (39.5 x 30 cm); with complete text and 48 color lithographs after posters and the 2 supplementary color lithographs of original designs, each with the Maîtres de l'Affiche blindstamp, as issued, the plates retaining their protective tissues. Generally a fine copy, illegible stamp on reverse of title.
Imprimerie Chaix was a major printer and publisher of posters, and many of those illustrated here were first published by the firm. The artists include Cheret, Mucha, Ibels, De Feure, Dow, Toulouse-Lautrec, etc. The publication was originally issued in wrappered parts.
