Blue and White 'Islamic' Garlic Head Bottle
16th Century, probably Chu Dau or Bat Trong kilns, Hai Duoung Province
The wide bottle, tapering strongly to a narrow neck and diminutive garlic head mouth, is carved with six wide, shallow panels on the side and is painted in the round with waterfowl and lotuses below a collar of ruyi heads. Another similar collar encircles the small mouth and from which are suspended six chain-link pendants. Height 11 inches (27.9 cm).
