Louis XVI Plum Pudding Mahogany Bonheur du Jour
Late 18th century
The galleried superstructure with a pair of glazed doors above a pair of drawers, one fitted for inkwells, the projecting lower section with a hinged flap opening to a leather-lined writing surface above two long drawers, the ring-turned tapering fluted legs ending in casters. Height 40 1/2 inches (1.02 m), width 25 1/2 inches (64.7 cm), depth 15 inches (38.1 cm).

Nice plum pudding mahogany, a sign of good quality, fair conditio with previous restorations, superstructure lacking 5 inch piece to back right gallery, leather panel cracked at middle section where hinged, old marks and scratches, areas of perishing to varnish, drawer handles later, 1/2 inch by 7 3/4 inch strip replaced to top of back left leg.
