London: Longman & Co., 1835. First edition. Two volumes. Publisher's green cloth. 8 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches; x, [2], 330 pp.; folding map, frontispieces, plates, vignette title pages. Bindings generally worn particularly at the spines and beginning to separate from text blocks, cloth stained and rippled, overopened, toning and offsetting to map with short tear near mount, occasional thumbsoiling, booksellers tickets to front pastedowns.
"Steedman spent ten years in South Africa, with a fair amount of time hunting big game. He hunted elephant north of Cape Town, then crossed the Orange River where quagga and wildebeest were encountered, with additional sport after lion.
