George III Giltwood Settee
In the manner of John Linnell, circa 1775
The padded backrest and sides within a molded frame with flowerhead-carved cresting above a loose-cushioned seat flanked by foliate-carved downswept supports ending in scrolls, the fluted apron raised on long leaf-carved tapering fluted legs ending in leaf-carved feet; the seat rails with cramp-cuts and slots. Height 38 3/4 inches (98.5 cm), width 57 inches (144.8 cm), depth 24 inches (61 cm).

The constructional details to the seat rail of cramp-cuts and slots between the back legs on the present settee were techniques known to have been used by Linnell and Chippendale's workshops and other London prominent makers.
