the pyramid "cap" at the top of the obelisk appears to be a later replacement and it is not currently affixed to the top straight or evenly ; the top edge area of the obelisk shows damage and repaired areas and the rim edge is currently somewhat jagged and uneven; the gilt-metal mounts appear to be affixed to the sides of the obelisk with a kind of putty; similarly, the gilt-metal mask affixed to one side of the pedestal base appears to be affixed with a kind of putty; the medallion may be a later addition to the pedestal base; there is glue residue visible in the area of the medallion; the upper part of the obelisk is loose, i.e., it is not affixed, to the pedestal base; they are in two parts - one just sits upon the other;
