Tarrytown: 24 May 1845. Single-page autograph letter signed, "M.C. Perry," to John Clapham recommending commending his service as a gunner. 8 x 10 inches. Folds, minor soiling.
Perry writes: "I have great pleasure in stating that your conduct as Gunner of the Frigate Macedonia during her late cruise upon the Coast of Africa was in all respects correct and I consider you perfectly qualified for the station then and now held by you."
