HINE, LEWIS WICKES (1874-1940) [Powerhouse mechanic],
[1925], printed later. Gelatin silver print, 13 1/2 x 9 3/8 inches (343 x 238 mm) on slightly larger sheet, verso with the Hine "Interpretive Photography/Hastings-on-Hudson" backstamp, "Hine" written in pencil. No defects noted in raking light, Framed.
This is a larger format print than that normally found, and it is possible that this is a posthumous printing from Walter and Naomi Rosenblum (it has many of the hallmarks of these, including stunning tonality) though in this case the paper does not fluoresce under UV, indicating that the paper at least was likely manufactured before 1955.
