George III Mahogany, Satinwood and Tulipwood Serpentine Chest of Drawers
Circa 1770
The crossbanded oval-inlaid top above four graduated mahogany-fronted drawers with molded concave fillets and flanked by fluted stiles, raised on rounded bracket feet. Height 33 inches (83.8 cm), width 41 inches (104.2 cm), depth 21 1/2 inches (54.7 cm).

Good quality, top veneered on mahogany and with mahogany sides, in fair condition, brass handles and escutcheons later with plugged holes to drawer backs, top with sunfading and white and black water stains to right side above rippling veneer, losses and replacements to veneers, age cracks to top behind inlaid oval, later triangular veneer patch and crossbanding to right back corner, age cracks to sides, drawer fronts and plinth very dry and with water spotting, third drawer with 8" replacement to cockbeading, drawers with age cracks to bottom corners, laminated corner blocks to feet; possibly once fitted with casters, laminates at bottoms of feet possibly later.
