[ANGLING] DIMOCK, A. W. The Book of the Tarpon.
New York: Outing Publishing Company, 1911. First edition. Publisher's blue cloth gilt, photographic overlay to upper board, top edge gilt, in photographically illustrated dust jacket. 8 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches; 256 pp., with photographic frontispiece and plates. Light edge wear, overlay a bit smudged; dust jacket with light wear along top edge of front panel and spine, creases to front and rear panels, tail edge possibly trimmed.
Very rare in dust jacket - we are unable to locate any other examples of a 1911 edition in jacket, either in past auction records, on Worldcat, in the trade or in the relevant bibliographies. According to UPenn, Outing magazine began publishing in 1882, twenty-nine years prior to publishing Dimock's book in 1911. The jacket's flap states that, "For nearly thirty years The Outing Magazine..." This would indicate that the present copy's jacket is original to the 1911 first edition.
