[INDIA-HUNTING] Manuscript account of travels in India.
N.p.: n.d (but from contents, 1846-1849). Period three-quarters brown leather over marbled boards, all edges marbled. 7 1/8 x 4 1/2 inches (18 x 11.5 cm); 74 ff. completed in a neat hand in ink or pencil (of about 200 ff.). Light wear, internally clean and sound.
A number of journeys are listed, with detailed daily accounts, including game hunted along the way (qmong these animals, tiger), mileage between centers of population, road conditions etc. These include a Journal from Serampore to Mullye 1846 (March 27-April 15); Journal of a Trip from Serampore to Calcutta; Journal of a Trip from Barrackpore to Calcutta; Lucknow to Mukowna; Journal of a Trip from Lucknow to Akyab [now Sittwe, Mynamar]; From Akyab to Govind Gash [?]. An interesting and quite early account, apparently by a military officer, who unfortunately has not left a record of his name in the book.
