First edition, second issue with line one of p. 19 corrected to read Pomare. Contemporary three quarters tan calf over marbled boards. With half-title and map, without ads. Neat ink signature to title, spine faded and extremities rubbed, with the booklabel of William Safire; and Typee; or, a Narrative of a Four Months' Residence among the Natives of a Valley of the Marquesas Islands; or, a Peep at Polynesian Life. London: John Murray, 1847. A new edition. Early three quarters red morocco over marbled boards. With map, without half-title or ads. Both volumes 7 x 4 1/2 inches. Spine lightly faded, with the bookplate of Lestocq Robert Erskine and the booklabel of William Safire. BAL 13652.
