Brown, 1844. Inscription to J.F. Prescott on front wrapper. All six in original wrappers or self-wrappers, stitched as issued. All uncut and as issued, the second work with a dark stain affecting the lower margin, generally some light wear but a sound group overall.
The first work listed above is Daniel Putnam's defense of his father against the imputations of incompetence and cowardice issued by Henry Dearborn, a controversy that raged for some thirty more years, and which cost Dearborn his bid for the governorship of Massachusetts (the third pamphlet, a campaign publication, extolls Dearborn's virtues). The second work is an anonymous Federalist attack on Monroe's candidacy for President.
