DALI, SALVADOR Large signature on 1963 St. Regis Luncheon Menu.
New York: 1963. Printed menu from the Oak Room at the Hotel St. Regis, the blank verso page with a very large pencil signature by Salvador dated 1963. 10 x 14 inches (26 x 16 cm); framed. Lightly toned and soiled, two short closed tears in the margin.
This very large Dali signature fills the blank back page of a the menu and was signed in front of the recipient. At the time, Dali told the recipient the autograph doubled as a profile of the mustachioed surrealist. The Oak Room menu is a time capsule in itself: in 1963, Beluga caviar could be had at the St. Regis for $6.50 and a bottle of wine added for just $3.
