Early three-quarters calf over marbled boards. 8 x 5 inches (21 x 13 cm); with folding map, vii, 421 pp. Institutional stamps to title, map verso, and elsewhere, the map silked, toning and marginal dampstain at rear, the spine with ink numerals, the binding rubbed.

The first edition of the first history of Maine, including the fine engraved map of Maine by Osgood Carleton. Sabin 93499; Evans 29589; Howes S1122.
