[MANUSCRIPT] Extracted miniature from a French Romaunt or Chronicle.
Likely Paris: mid-fifteenth century. 3 7/8 x 5 inches (10 x 13 cm); gold and colors on vellum, depicting a rider in gold armor on a grey horse caparisoned in white and gold, leading a troop of lancers against bowmen standing in a wagon, bows drawn, with a border of acanthus and vine to left and right; the verso with the text in a fine cursiva formata. The colors showing some oxidation on the reverse. In an early gilt frame, rather attractively wormed.

The source seems likely to be Froissart or Monstrelet,
