Joseph Holdcroft Majolica Stork 'Flower Stand'
Recorded as model no. 8B, circa 1880
Standing naturalistically on one leg, a struggling snake or eel wrapped around its beak, before tall bulrushes, marsh reeds and iris, the rocky mound base applied with a budding waterlily, twice struck impressed uppercase mark J. Holdcroft. Height 26 inches.

overall good condition; restoration to the end of the bird's beak and to one talon, to one iris petal, to approximately four of the large leaves, mainly at the base; some of the restoration now flaking; minor nicks to bulrush leaves; and some even crazing; overall good integrity; examined under blacklight
