IONESCO, EUGÈNE Holograph manuscript, apparent first or early draft, of Ionesco's preface to L'Avant-garde Théâtrale,
published 1970. Four leaves, 10 1/2 x 8 1/4 inches (27 x 21 cm), written on rectos only in blue and black ink, signed on the final leaf. Some creasing to the final leaf, tear without loss on the lower edge of the second leaf, minor fraying, etc.; together with three autograph and three typed letters signed, 1969-1976.Variously addressed to Tom or Helen Gary Bishop, one apparently originally accompanying the preface. Usual folds.
L'Avant-garde Théâtrale: French Theatre since 1950, edited by Tom Bishop, is an early and standard work on the Theatre of the Absurd.
