Coronation of Russian Emperor Nicholas II: Enameled Metal Coronation Cup of Sorrows and Printed Cotton Scarf Commemorating the Narodnyi Prazdnik
The cup tapering cylindrical, the front centering the crowned initials of Emperor Nicholas II and the coronation date of 1896, the reverse with the Russian Imperial arms, amid varicolored strapwork. Height 4 inches (10.2 cm). The scarf by the Danilov Mills, 1896, commemorating the Popular Festival [Narodnyi prazdnik], part of the three-week long celebrations of the Coronation of Nicholas II, centering a view of the Moscow Kremlin within an oak and laurel wreath, the corners with the personal seal of Emperor Nicholas II. Height 21 inches (53.3 cm), width 23 5/8 inches (60 cm).
