London: Rowland Ward, 1898. First edition, one of 500 copies signed by Rowland Ward, this number 440. Later full green morocco, covers with emblematic tools for D. B. Putnam's Sons by The Knickerbocker Press, original cloth bound-in. 11 1/2 x 8 7/8 inches (29 x 22.5 cm); xx, 329, [1] pp., with 24 fine hand-colored plates by J. Smit and illustrations in text. Front cover with a transverse scratch, apparently stained with the application of leather dressing, light wear. The Walter Rutherford Peterson copy, with his bookplate.
