Emile Pingat Paisley Mantle
French, 1880s
Mid calf length, with open vent at back, low dolman sleeves, fashioned of pastel colored kashmir shawl, with areas and insets re-embroidered with gilt threads and passementiere, elaborate chenille tassel trim at all edges, paisley motif silk lace trim on front interior edges and at cuffs, labeled: Emile Pingat/30. Rue Louis Le Grand 30/Paris.
Very good condition, some discolorations to lining, loose stitching at neckline and lace trim.
Oral history aassociates the mantle with the Russian Imperial family.
