Group of Three Pre-Columbian Textiles
Peru, Chancay, 1000-1460 A.D.
The first depicting felines in diagonal format, tapestry weave worked in shades of sienna, umber and ochre, height 8 1/2 inches, width 22 inches, the next depicting repeat images of stylized heads in rectangular format, gauze weave, red diamond-shape shading, height 13 inches, width 12 1/2 inches, the third a diety figure, cuchimilco, with outstretched arms, head ornaments and earplugs, gauze weave, black on ochre ground, height 18 inches, width 11 inches. Each framed.
