Full olive morocco of the period, the covers, the covers tooled in a panel with red inlays in the corners with green volutes, enclosing painted arms, apparently of a member of the Medici family, the front with the acrostic F.H.M.M.D.E.V. in gilt [not located in the BM Database or elsewhere], the rear dated in gilt "Anno. 1632," a surround with arched orange onlays at the midpoints of the panel sides, elaborate leaf-and tendril cornerpieces, the whole surrounded by two gilt rules; spine in compartments gilt with onlaid lozenges alternating in red and orange, original straps and clasps present, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. 7 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches (18 x 11.5 cm); engraved title, [24] ff. calendar, with 12 very fine engravings, 220 pp. printed in red and black with several interspersed engravings; 104 pp. Upper cover and spine somewhat faded, a few very minor restorations.
An elegant printed Parisian Book of Hours, in an refined binding datable to the year of publication (of the second part, i.e. 1632).
