Group of Continental Majolica Trompe L'Oeil Articles
Comprising a F. Gomes D'Avellar Portuguese Palissy Ware circular charger, circa 1890, naturalistically modeled with a large snake and a mongoose, the mossy frit ground applied with a snail, the footrim pierced for hanging, impressed uppercase oval mark, CALDAS DA RAINHA and incised 7, diameter 8 1/4 inches; a French Palissy Ware blue-ground miniature charger, School of Paris, circa 1870, naturalistically modeled with two central entwined spotted snakes among foliage on a small island, the border with another snake, a snail, a moth and an insect among clover on a rustic blue ground, unmarked, diameter 4 inches; and a Jose A. Cunha Portuguese Palissy Ware dish, circa 1900, naturalistically modeled with a large snake and an intrenched lizard facing off, the mossy frit ground applied with a grub, caterpillar, beetle and moth, the footrim pierced for hanging, impressed oval uppercase mark, CALDAS RAINHA, PORTUGAL, diameter 7 inches.

French Palissy Ware Blue-Ground Miniature Charger: One snake head detached but present, there is a glaze line to the underside, not visible on the surface, restored rim chip; examined under blacklight
