Orange, N.J.: 13 November 1883. 1 page letter addressed to "My dear Frank" on a single sheet of McClellan's The National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers stationery. 8 1/2 x 10 3/4 inches (22 x 27 cm); framed with a portrait. Some visible strengthening at folds, thumbsoiling to lower margin, unexamined out of frame.
McClellan, as a board member of the National Home which provided long-term care to Union veterans of the Civil War, optimistically reports "[John Shaw] Billings says the site is admirable, & he will go into the matter with the hope of making it the best military hospital in this country."
