Lot 33
MORRIS, ROBERT Autograph letter signed.
New Brunswick: 4 December 1796. 2 1/4 page letter signed "Robt. Morris" on the recto and verso of a bifolium, addressed to James Boggs at Philadelphia and with a long postscript, the docketing reporting the letter from "Judge Morris." 9 1/4 x 7 1/2 inches (23 x 18 cm). Small loss to blank area where opened not affecting any text, showthrough from wax seal.
Here the Washington appointed New Jersey Judge Robert Morris writes a frequent correspondent regarding a review of his firm, business transactions, and mentions being detained in New York during the presidential election. We trace a similar letter to Boggs offered at Sotheby's in 2016. Please note this text updated on April 13.
