[MANUSCRIPTS-ILLUMINATED LEAVES] Group of four.
France, 15th century, four manuscripts on vellum from various Books of Hours, the largest sheet 7 1/2 x 6 inches (19 x 15.5. cm), each with text to recto and verso, all but one with illumination to both sides with historiated initials and floral decoration in the margins. Each matted and with printed descriptions (one from Kenneth Rendell). Fine overall; Together with a late 19th or 20th century illuminated manuscript leaf on vellum. An attractive leaf with anthropomorphic animals and a trumpeter surrounded by foliage and berries, out of a planter rises a stalk with leaves and flowers set in gold, and at center left is a large gold panel with the following text in a ribbon: "Le prie Dieu qu'il vous guarde en ce bas monde..." [Pray to God that he watches over you in this world...]. Signed in the lower margin by the artist, the sheet 9 x 7 inches (23 x 17 cm), with a guard sheet.
